Charity

So, I try to be charitable whenever possible. It's a calling, I suppose.

You ever try and give something that has little value to you, but alot to someone else...and want to surprise them with it so you can both enjoy the experience...and they can't even be bothered to show up to get their free stuff?

I've had several experiences like that lately, makes me want to throw the shit away and tell them because they couldn't be bothered I couldn't either.

Let a starving man starve because he won't come get the food you so generously cooked him?

I guess. Humanity doesn't seem to "get" why I'm always pissed off at them. This is just one reason--I can't even do humanity a favor because humanity is too shitty to accept it.

Random Thoughts

Oh yeah, unbanned from Dakka. I don't seem to give a fuck, it's not like I couldn't bypass the lame ass ban anyway since the sites 'ban' option is so gay. Oh well, on to more important things:

Beh. AoC released. I got it. So far it's not a smooth launch. I guess I can upgrade my video card and see how much it helps, it's about the only weak point in my system. At least until next year.

Can't seem to find any motivation for anything these days. At least I've got most of the crap at work done, so I can stop working 100 hour work weeks.

Impressive

Well a long long time ago, I had a roomie. We played alot of video games back in the day (and still do), but I was on hiatus from playing local friendly miniatures games I never really introduced him to the hobby. His name is Rob. He lives up in Idacrap now, but he comes and sees me whenever he has a chance which is usually once every 1-2 months.

I've tried over the years to get Rob to play 40k, but until my reworking of the local gaming scene at my chosen FLGS (friendly local gaming store) was complete he never really had an interest. Too many jerks. Not that I'm not one, mind you--I can be as bad as the next guy. However, I am an excellent teacher and am far more friendly to new gamers than most...and my efforts at making the place more friendly have in my honest opinion paid off.

So now he has at long last shown interest. Given my plethora of 40k armies, I helped him get a head start with some of my IG and got him a really good army list for it. So what's so impressive?

All 3 of the guys going with me to the LVGT this year (John, Jimmy, and now Rob) are all quite capable of handing me my ass in a game of 40k. Considering how poorly all opponent's do against me at tournaments of all sizes, this is really saying something. As we all bounce ideas off each other, all of our armies are different but I think all are very strong. Fact is, my Orks honestly seem the weakest and it does worry me...but the army amuses me greatly and I hope with a weaker list and the hoped-for extra competitiveness at the GT that I'll at long last lose a game. I have fond hopes that I'll even be tabled, but I think that's asking a bit much. After all, my chosen website (dakka) to beat intelligence into the 40k community doesn't reach everyone. Hopefully when all of my buddies and I show up with armies people aren't used to seeing, and we do well, alot of the pundits will recognize there is a very hardcore group of players in Utah. Hell, we have a couple Dark Angels players that are hard to beat! If that doesn't impress you, what will? lol

Battlestar Galactica

So, finished watching another stupid fucking episode. What is it, 5 or 6 in a row of total sucktitude? I swear if I hear that stupid ass muslim horn music again I'm gonna go crazy myself.

Way to go, writer's strike + sci-fi channel chumps...way to ruin one of the best sci-fi shows with utter trash.

Where'd all the battles go? Yeah, story...who cared? Going to earth, fighting evil, good stuff...show me the fighting evil part again? Ok, more please.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck. I better have a female orgasm when the finale shows up.

Fun times

So I've been very very busy at work, like 20/7 for weeks. So I haven't had time to update.

I've been doing the following:

Playtesting 5th edition 40k. I've been the Tyranid/Ork/Space Wolf player in our test group, though I do play other armies against my own as needed to spread the experience around. I've seen so many different versions of 'simplify' it's gotten complicated. Personally I'm quite disappointed with the rules, and I hope in a few months once 5th edition has died off (like apocacrap did) and we get the LV GT over...we can get some games of At-43 in. Much better system, and sadly GW didn't license it or steal it completely--they only stole part of it. Kind of like the flames of war rules, they stole part of it but not all of it.

Building my Lizard Ork project slowly. I have a good army for 5th edition now. 3 lootas (9 each), 3 kannons (3 guns each), 9 warbuggies (big shootas), 2 warbosses w/pl and heavy armor, and 4 trukk squads of shootaz with a PK nob w/bosspole in each and room in two trukks for the warbosses. Good shooting, and enough of an assault force to scare people.

Getting my ass banned from dakka for a week. It's quite amusing really. Warning: Do not use the word tripe, or insult yakface's RL dakka buddies (you know, the gimp patrol--cent99, darrian13, blackmoor, among others those are the popular twit-o-rama I have to deal with), or tell him his adepticon faq is crap (or better yet, make sure GW gets ALL the complaints from the adepticon players who got fucked by said faq and lo and behold GW releases a FAQ contradicting all the bullshit changes made by yakface--oops guess I was right after all). I might get a lifetime ban, but telling me to stop calling it like it is...well, that train is never late!

Remember, in 40k, I'm better than you. If you're reading this, I can kick your ass. I don't ever want people to forget it. You can kiss the judges ass, and get someone to paint your army for you and call it your own, and you can schmooze your opponents with bullshit...but you will NEVER win a GT if you play me because I will defeat you. So hopefully, I can play ALL the trashtalking gimps at the LVGT and knock every last one of them out of contention. Will they still talk trash? Yes, because they believe I have a need to validate myself with a GT win. Sadly, they don't realize I gave up on that after my FIRST year. The tournaments are poorly run, and if they didn't have those pro-painted armies for me to stare in awe at I'd have stopped going long ago. It's not like I've run into a challenge at a GT in a decade of going, and I'm always on the top ten tables...so what's the point of going when I know it's impossible to win? To see the armies you dumb asses. I swear you guys wouldn't know a hobbyist from a hole in the ground.

Laughing at the 'news' sites. Bell of Lost Souls? GW Propoganda Factory at it's finest. Who cares that you got the 'latest' news from a playtest group when the news is 6 months old? Do I really care that you got the latest skinny from Javier at the printing factory...when the book comes out in a week? Sadly, what most players don't realize is...GW is so uncoordinated, so clumsy in it's efforts as a business, is that while other companies have a product in production for months with nary a leak...GW is producing RIGHT till the end...so your 'news' is often wrong because the master PDF was edited by Jervis 30 minutes before the final deadline.

Random update

I've been extremely busy at work lately. Like 20/7 busy. So I haven't had time for much model building lately, but I have a new worktable for downstairs and I hope I can get cracking on some viral lizzies this weekend. :)
